Friedman Benda is pleased to participate in a collaboration with Artforum at The Armory Show this September, 2022. The gallery will present an installation in the Artforum seating area with select works by Chilean design studio gt2P (Great Things To People) and French-Danish creative duo OrtaMiklos.
Inspired by the topography of the Andes Mountain range, gt2P harvests volcanic lava rock from Chile’s chain of 2,000 volcanoes to realize a sculptural body of work – the acclaimed “Remolten” series. As an ongoing project that continues to evolve, the resulting work speaks to gt2P’s approach that integrates art, science, cultural and material context. gt2P’s work will be joined by OrtaMiklos’ exuberantly colorful desk and chairs. Utilizing ad hoc sculpting and coloring processes, OrtaMiklos’ work on display are conceived as props for an intuitive theater of making with a wide variety of references, such as body movements and contortion, graffiti, and animation.
